2021-2022 Policies and Procedures
General Information | Weekly private lessons are offered in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions, depending on the student’s age/level.
Lesson and Practice Space | Families are expected to provide a designated place in their home for lessons and practice to take place.
Practice and Instrument | Piano students are expected to practice 4-6x weekly on a well-maintained acoustic piano or keyboard. Acoustic pianos should be tuned once a year. Vocal students are expected to practice at least 3x per week.
Materials | The student will be given an assignment notebook at their first lesson, which will be used to track lesson notes and homework assignments. The teacher will purchase the materials and the parents are expected to reimburse the teacher in a timely manner.
Tuition and Payment | Tuition is based on the rate of $75 per hour. Payments may be made by cash, ACH, or credit card. Auto-pay setup is required for all ACH or credit card payment options, and there is a surcharge of $10 for cash payments. Payment is due the first week of each month. A late fee of $15 will be applied to any account that is 10 days late. The teacher reserves the right to raise fees at the beginning of each new academic year.
Makeup Lessons | Clients receive a total of 3 makeup credits per year; 1 per semester and 1 floating vacation week. The instructor will attempt to schedule a makeup lesson and if a time is not found by the end of the semester your account will be credited for the skipped lesson at that point. If the instructor misses a lesson due to illness or some unforeseen event, you will not be charged and will have credit issued to your account.
Sick Days | In the event of illness, please cancel your lesson. The instructor will attempt to schedule a virtual makeup lesson or find an alternative time once you have recovered. Any student who attempts to attend a lesson when they have a fever, or are too ill to attend school will not be served and that lesson will not be made up.
Inclement Weather | In the case of inclement weather (snow, heavy storms, etc), all lessons will be moved to a virtual format for that day only. If the client or instructor loses power and is unable to attend a virtual lesson, every attempt will be made to make up the missed lesson.
Discontinuing Lessons | Private students must notify the teacher 30 days in advance if they are discontinuing lessons. Payment is expected through the end of the 4 weeks.
